London in 48 hours – My Favourites City Guide

If you have never been to London, you really need to go there.

At least for a short citytrip, just to see for yourself what so many people love dearly. And if you have been to London before, you should go again! Because there’s always something new to discover and experience. I’ve been in London for a total of 17 days now (yes, keeping track) and I can’t wait to go there again. There are still quite a few things on my ‘London To-Do List’.

From the times I’ve been there, I’ve distilled a list of where I would go if I only had 48 hours to discover London. I’ll show you around London and show you the things I think one needs to see when in London. All the best highlights and the most beautiful places to see, some shops to go to and streets to walk.

For pretty much all the places we’ll visit that require an entrance ticket, it is advised to buy a ticket online. Not only does this save time standing in line (except for the London Eye), but it usually also saves a few Pounds.

On a side note: this guide assumes you have a full 48 hours at your disposal. So probably it’s best to arrive the evening before ‘day 1’ and go back home the morning after ‘day 2’. A shorter trip is of course possible, but then I’m sure you’ll feel the need to come back again. Although I think most people feel like they have to come back again anyways.

Let’s get this journey started. And where to start better than with a full English breakfast. Continue reading London in 48 hours – My Favourites City Guide

London Shoplog 2014

Last week I showed you the things I did in London. Today I’m showing the stuff I bought. I’ve bought some amazing things and ofcourse spent way too much money during the whole trip, but it’s all worth it.

Let’s start with what was on my shopping list. I love bags and I really wanted a nice bag for the summer. To take with me shopping or to the park. I wanted to buy one, but I came back home with three…. Yep, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s got to do, right?! The one on the left is a little purse I found at the Camden Lock Market and the one on the right is a simple linnen bag from Primark. But the one in the middle is most special. While on the tube I saw someone reading a magazine/newspaper and I saw an advert for an Orla Kiely sample sale. As soon as I got home I googled it and it so happened that it was going to happen in 2 days! So I just simply had to go there and that’s when I found this beauty in the middle. It’s my most expensive bag so far, but it’s absolutely worth it! Continue reading London Shoplog 2014

The 2014 London Journal

I’m back again! I had 9 lovely days in the city I love so dear: London.

A lot of time was spent in parks, strolling around and reading books. You might say that’s not really holiday material. Walking in parks and reading books is also something you could do at home. True.

Last year I visited London for the first time and I had a loooong list of things I wanted to do. I did get to do a lot, but in the mean time I haven’t really taken time to look around and enjoy what I saw. I was just ‘running’ from one event to the other. So this time I’ve set myself a rule: no fast walking, no hurrying, take time to sit down on a bench and look around you. And that’s exactly what I did.

Ofcourse I did visit some museums, tourist spots & all. With a tear in my eyes I left the city, because I think I won’t be visiting London again this year. But there’s always the pictures to remember the good times. I’ll show you the highlights and the stuff I enjoyed this time. Continue reading The 2014 London Journal

London Hotspots

Remember last year, when I visited London? Well, I fell in love. Deeply deeply in love. I’ve missed  the city ever since, so I’m super excited to tell you that within a day I’ll be back to that special place!
Strolling through the streets, shopping here & there, reading fabulous books on a park bench and occasionally feeding the squirrels. Let’s hope the weather won’t be too English, because I don’t want to do the things stated above with an umbrella over my head all the time.

I’ve been looking forward to this trip for almost 3 months, but never took the time to start planning all the things I want to see…
So 2 days ago I started to list the things I still wanted to see & do,

Tower Bridge, I just love to look at it
Yumchaa (a lovely English Tea café, you really should visit it!)
Hyde Park & the Diana Memorial Fountain
The Royal Albert Hall
Victoria & Albert Museum
The Shard
Take some time reading a book at Parliament Hill
Borough Market

And what not, there’s a lot more I’ll do. There’s a good chance I’ll share a bit of my trip next week.
But for now I have one question: What is your favorite hotspot in London? What special place should I definitely visit?
Let me know in the comments below!

DIY: Knitted Pillow with Bamboo Stitch

Last week I’ve finished a knitted pillow I’ve made with yarn I bought in London.
I’ve knitted it with the ‘Bamboo Stitch’ and today I’ll teach you how you can knit this pillow yourself!
It might look difficult, but it really isn’t. All you really need to know is how to knit & purl and move your thread about here and there.
