Diary June

June started on a high with the performance of the piece ‘Much ado ‘bout nothing’ from Shakespeare by my student union. I was part of the decor-team. It was hard work, but it went soooo well and it gave a huge burst of adrenaline.

Right after that I spent the weekend with my biblestudy group from that same student union. We made a biketrip to a beautiful castle, where we had a tour and walked around a bit. The day after we had a creative afternoon: with the assistance of some nice, relaxed music we painted. It was really great and made a big mess with the paint all over my canvasses. But the result is pretty ok.

After all of this fun, there was still the thing called school. Right after the fun weekend my exam week started. 3 exams that I didn’t prepare that well. Luckily I passed all of them and the week after I also presented and finished a project very well.

And when all this learning and project stuff was done: summer vacation! Time to relax, enjoy the free time (no alarm waking me up!) and do anything I wanted. I had an indoor picnic with a friend, visited a silence festival in Breda and went geocaching with my sister. The weather wasn’t that great, but I really enjoyed almost 2 weeks of vacation at the end of June.

And now that it’s July, I started with a fulltime job during the summer at the laboratory of the hospital in Utrecht. Lovely job, but I’m curious to see how I will deal with working fulltime… More about that in the next diary. First: June and it’s delights.

This is the castle I told about, Kasteel De Haar in Haarzuilens. It was a nice bikeride to get there, although we had to cycle upwind... But it's worth it. I mean: look at it, so gorgeous.

When we walked into the castle, we were welcomed by this beautiful floor. Pretty pretty pretty. We also took a tour inside where we saw so much luxury and wealth, unbelievable.

The day after we spent the afternoon painting. I especially had fun with the horizon ones. Putting on loads of white and adding blues and greens into it. It really takes your mind away from everything else.

The week after it was study time. But also when learning for exams you need time to relax. So I made myself a delicious smoothie and sat outside on the bench reading Flow Magazine.

And when exams and projects were finished, I had some time to celebrate my summer holidays. I visited the Silence Festival in Breda where there was art, performance and installations that were all about sound, sight and sense. This thing here is the Luminarium, some kind of huge air castle where you can walk into.

And once you're inside the Luminarium, you are amazed. The walls are covered with stripes of transparent plastic and when light comes through, this is te result. Very very gorgeous.

More of the Luminarium. Here you can see you can walk through it and that each 'room' has different colors.

I also took time to catch up with a friend. We planned to go picnic in a park, so I made this couscous salad in a jar.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't so great, so we moved the picnic indoors and still had a great time.

When I was at my parents for the weekend, I collected many leaves and flowers to dry and seal. I tell you how you can do that here.

And my sister and me also met halfway in Deventer. We walked 10 km around the city geocaching, so much fun!

One cache brought us to an old, deserted, overgrown cemetry where people were barried around 1890. A little creapy, but mostly beautiful and intruiging.

And on the last day of June me and Mexy lounged in a park just above Utrecht. I loved to take her outside and see her being all excited about every sound she hears, how she was all cuddly and how she went to sleep eventually.

This is us, two best friends for life! I'm so gonna miss her when I'm in Stockholm (she'll be with my parents), so I taught my mom how to Skype so I can still see Mexy.

This is at the end of our lounge session. She was so sleepy, I even unleashed her. I was a little nervous at the beginning, but she just layed down and relaxed. A perfect finish to my 2 weeks of summer holiday.

Crafts: I made a knitted banner in baby pink and after that I picked up a crochet scalloped scarf I started somewhere end of 2014. It took some time to figure out the pattern again, but now I’m back on track.

Books: Still reading ‘Bagage’ by Emily Barr, haven’t made so much progress though. When you see the stuff below, you’ll understand why

Movies/series: When I finished Downton Abbey, I moved on to New girl and then The Returned, The Missing, House of Cards, 3rd season of Orange is the New Black and now I’m watching the Swedish series Arne Dahl. Now you understand why I haven’t made so much progress with reading books…

Favorite moment: passing all my exams and projects. I won’t make any more exams at my school, since after summer I’ll study in Sweden and after that I’ll do my final internship and my thesis. So with that, I’ve passed all my exams at my school in one time! Big celebration time!

Suckiest moment: I wasn’t selected for a room at one of the campusses of Stockholms Universitet. So that means I’ll have to find a room myself. Fingers crossed.

May Diary

May started out perfect with a trip to Copenhagen! I’ve already shared a lot of pictures from that trip in another post.

After that holiday May was mostly about school. Working hard on two projects, keeping up with the courses I’m taking. Not much fun.

What is much fun, is that this month I’ve also got a GO for studying in Stockholm! Not all courses I’d like to take are sure, because I’ll have to register at the end of August. But it’s not going to be any more sure than this for now. So I’ve started preparing: subscribing at the uni, investigating the city, trying to learn the language and booking a ticket. August 22nd I’m going to be very sick. Sick from nerves and excitement, cause that’s the day I’m leaving The Netherlands for a while! Almost can’t wait.

January Diary

January, the first month of 2015.
It started with learning for my exams, taking the exams and yes, passing them! Yay!
Besides those exams there was no school for this girl this month. So, that means, a lot of time to spend on the blog & etsy shop. With the help of Mayi Carles’ Free 5 Day Life is Messy Challenge I’ve set goals for this year, found out my super powers and envisioned what I want my future to look like. With these basics I’ve planned bigger tasks throughout the year and cut them up in smaller pieces to tackle each month. It’s really been a big help. A must for any blogger or creative business owner.
Enough talking, time for some pics! Continue reading January Diary

In Memoriam: Nemo
