One thing I learned in Stockholm is that Swedes love to bake.
A very prominent tradition in Sweden is fika. Which means you’re having coffee and some sweet pastry with friends.
Fika is something some Swedes do all day long, each break is a great opportunity for fika.
One of the pastries that is the traditional food for fika are Swedish Kanelbullar (cinnamon buns). Delicious little breads that taste sweet, but not too sweet.
For my birthday I made some cinnamon buns myself, to share with my family and co-workers and that was much appreciated.

At the beginning of this year, new year’s resolutions were made. And so did I.
I told myself that I wanted to bake more cookies.
Up until now not very much happened in that department, except one or two batches of cookies being thrown in the trash. Lesson learned: baking with Stevia isn’t such a good idea.
But last weekend I managed to make some that are, or better said were, very tasteful if I can believe my colleagues. I baked some Oreo chip cookies with white chocolate on top. Here’s how you can make them for yourself (or your colleagues). (more…)
Another delicious recipe this week!
I’ve made this one last weekend when some friends came over to celebrate my birthday! (yes, I celebrate my birthday in shifts, because my room is too tiny…).
This isn’t a cheesecake like you know them, since it’s not made with cream cheese, but with quark. In Dutch it’s called ‘kwarktaart’, but I don’t think there’s a proper translation for it.
Anyways, it’s delicious! Fresh from the quark and sweet from the raspberries. It’s perfect for sunny celebrations or summery picknicks. (more…)
Hey, I found the way back to my blog! I’ve been gone for 4 weeks to focus on my study. Tomorrow is my last exam (for now) and just finished preparing it, so I have some time to blog again!
Last Tuesday was my 27th birthday (yes, I know, I’m old :P) and to celebrate I’ve made some cupcakes.
Besides some basic ones, I’ve also made cupcakes with white chocolate and raspberries. And as always with cupcakes, the best is on top of it: mashmallow fluff!
